“The Legend Of The Blue Sea” Hits Its Highest Viewership Ratings
SBS’s hit series “The Legend of the Blue Sea” scored 21 percent in nationwide viewership ratings and is the drama’s highest score yet, seeing a 2.7 percent increase from the previous episode. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the show even recorded 22 percent viewership.
“The Legend Of The Blue Sea” also received enthusiastic response not just in Asia, but also in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. The drama took first place on subscription channel Sony One in its time slot against other Hallyu channels, with 92 percent in Malaysia and 82 percent in Singapore. Philippines’ iflix saw its subscribers double after “The Legend Of The Blue Sea” was made available, and about 20 percent of new subscribers watched the drama immediately after signing up.
Meanwhile Chinese internet TV service iQIYI reported a cumulative 112 million views from episodes one to eight. ‘”The Legend of the Blue Sea” also set a record for the most views after its launch in Taiwan, with an average of 140,000 views per episode. On Viki, the drama maintained first place for its time slot , with 64,000 followers on its channel just three weeks after premiering.
